The 2018 Lenten season begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14th. The 40 days of Lent are a grace-filled opportunity to deepen our prayer, to be purified through penance and to imbue our lives with more charity.

Ashes will be distributed after the Gospel at the following:

  • 7:00 a.m. mass
  • 9:00 a.m. mass
  • 12:00 p.m. service
  • 3:00 p.m. service
  • 7:30 p.m. mass

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.

Fasting – obligatory from age 18 until age 59. A person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.

Abstinence – Binding from age 14 onwards. A person is to abstain from eating meat.
